May 22nd 2014 - CHICAGO — Sheila Mikhail served as a finals judge in “The College New Venture Challenge (CNVC).” Held on May 22, 2014, CVNC is the undergraduate-focused competition track of the New Venture Challenge. Administered by the Career Advancement Office at the University of Chicago, the program is supported by alumni volunteers, donors and sponsors, as well as the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at ChicagoBooth.

Apr 2nd 2013 - RALEIGH, N.C. — Life Sciences Law managing member Sheila Mikhail and associate attorney Julia Kim, who has a background in intellectual property law, traveled to North Carolina State University today to address a class of MBA students in the school’s Poole College of Management. Mikhail and Kim's presentation centered around intellectual property management, including their perspectives on the changing face of patent law and its implications for early-stage technology companies. The class, ‘Entrepreneurship: Managing the Growth Venture,’ focuses on developing analytical approaches to planning and action-taking in entrepreneurial contexts. Jan 31st 2013 - CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Life Sciences Law, a Chapel Hill-based boutique law firm exclusively focused on the needs of pharmaceutical, biotechnology and device companies, is pleased to announce the promotion of Timothy Ferguson to Income Partner.

In announcing Ferguson’s promotion, Life Sciences Law founder and Managing Member Sheila A. Mikhail praised Ferguson’s contribution to the firm.

“Tim has made significant contributions to the development of our firm and its younger attorneys,” Mikhail said. “He will become an increasingly more valuable team member of the firm and our clients as LSL continues to grow.”

Ferguson’s practice focuses primarily on venture capital financings and corporate governance matters, including complex shareholder disputes in closely held companies, buy-sell arrangements, and other exit and wealth-preservation strategies.

Ferguson earned his J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina.
